Week 5 Thing 12
I have created my search tool with Rollyo. I kind of relate that to submitting all my recipes I make to be put into a cookbook our church made. All my recipes were in one book!
Week 5 Thing 11
I found the site Lulu which lets you publish your own books and other things. It looks good, but it's foreign currency. I have had students ask me before about publishing a book, but I didn't really know off-hand where to tell them to "go." Does anyone know of another site out there that's here in the states that let's you do that? Lulu also says it's free with no publication fees, but of course, nothing's for free, but I don't think it was that expensive. Any comments?
I was also looking at Library 2.0. It looks good too, but I need to explore it a little further to see if I want to "join up."

Week 5 Thing 10
I looked at some of the image generators today. I had to reload some of my pictures onto our computer from a CD for some reason, but I finally used Captioner ( I found through the FD Toys Generator) and put a caption on this picture of our dog. I could really have fun with this!

Week 4 Thing 9
I found some neat librarian feeds. I did one from the Librarian's Internet, the Shifted Librarian, and I can't wait to look at Library Thing some more. There are so many more (some with book reviews too). I even found an interesting article in one of them about some books that were returned to a library in Peru after 100 years! Apparently Chili had taken them during the war in the 1800's. Wow!
Week 4 Thing 8
I chose to use Google Reader for my news feeds. I kind of like being able to have the news come to me, especially if I don't have time to sit down and watch it at the time it's on TV, not to mention all the cool library related feeds. I found out very quickly that I set up too many feeds and won't be able to read all the articles, but I can always delete more (I already did some) when I take a little more time and see the ones I want to keep.

Week 3 Things5,6,&7
This is a fun week. I'm really interested in the Trading Card Maker site. I'd like to make a trading card for myself or use Poster Maker to make some posters for the library. We could use sites like this to maybe have students do a trading card or a poster for a book they liked, etc. There are such neat things teachers can do with their students in the classroom too. I like the cluster maps too.

Week 1
Thing 1 and 2
I am excited about this class. I think it will take a lot of time, but even the time I've spent already was fun-setting up a blog. It is fun to learn new things. I hope to learn how to make podcasts, and do booktalks on them-or even some kind of slide show or videos. I would like to maybe set up online "bookclubs" on a wiki (if I can get students to do it), where we could all read and discuss books-not necessarily the same one at the same time). Personally, as I went through the life-long learning tutorial, I realize there are some things I do already, and more I want to do. I am working on a Spanish program (on CDs) that we bought for our daughter when she started taking Spanish in high school. I am learning some things, but I'm afraid I won't remember it very much if I'm not able to practice it. It's fun anyway!
